“It cannot be understated just how great this style of Scotch Whiskey is with cheese. The richness of the cheese will naturally neutralize the sharpness of alcohol present inScotch. What happens next is where the magic begins. You will then be able to taste the uniqueness of the cask that each of these brilliant Scotches are finished in.
Glenmorangie uses very tall — the tallest in Scotland — long necked copper stills. They stand an astonishing 16 feet 10 inches tall. This is the average height of an adult male giraffe. They began to be called ‘The Giraffe Stills’ over time. In the later part of the twentieth century, Glenmorangie adopted the giraffe as the official spirit animal of the
distillery. The amount of time and money the distillery has put into the conservation of these amazing animals is incalculable.
‘The Lighthouse’ is a modern glass enclosure housing new stills on the property. It is in sharp contrast to the old nineteenth century brick distillery that was originally built on site. It opened in 2021 and is a must see when you are in Scotland!!!”
