Two Wild Turkey Rare Breed cocktails are coming to Bascom’s Chop House in Clearwater from October 23 through November 30. Created by Beverage Director and Sommelier Cory Whitehurst and the Bascom’s bar team, these limited-time features offer two ways to revisit a Kentucky favorite: a rye Manhattan and a bourbon Old Fashioned.
Two Ways to Rediscover Rare Breed
The Finesse of Frankfurt | $21
This Manhattan features Wild Turkey Rare Breed Barrel Proof Rye, Faretti Biscotti Liqueur, Peychaud’s Bitters, and Fee Brothers Orange Bitters.
The 112.2-proof rye gives the cocktail its foundation, while biscotti liqueur and bitters add layers to the classic. If Manhattans are your go-to, you can explore more of the bar program on our Cocktails and Vino menu.
Louisville Slugger | $22
For bourbon fans, the Louisville Slugger is an Old Fashioned made with Wild Turkey Rare Breed Barrel Proof Bourbon and Angostura Bitters.
At 116.8 proof, Rare Breed Bourbon remains the focus of this straightforward take on the classic.
The Kentucky Whiskey Behind the Cocktails
Wild Turkey introduced Rare Breed Bourbon in 1991, making it one of the early barrel-proof bourbons to reach a broad audience. Rare Breed Rye joined the family in 2020. Both expressions showcase the fuller character of whiskey bottled at barrel proof.
For Cory and the Bascom’s bar team, these cocktails are an invitation to return to a familiar name and discover what makes each whiskey distinct. One brings Rare Breed Rye into a Manhattan; the other lets Rare Breed Bourbon lead an Old Fashioned.
